Warner Brothers TV is now acquiring the rights to Sandman from it’s sister company, DC Entertainment, and is in talks with several writer-producers for the adaptation from comic to small screen. On the top of that list is Supernatural series creator, Eric Kripke. Kripke is interested but cautious of the project, mainly due to the passionate and devoted following the comic book series has. Both WBTV and Kripke’s reps at WME have declined to comment on his possible involvement with the project.

Also, Neil Gaiman is not involved in developments as of yet, but since it is still in the early stages, that will most probably change.

Sandman tells the tales of the Lord of Dreaming, Morpheus, who personifies dreams. Originally touted as a horror comic, it crossed into the realms of mythology and fantasy. The comic helped to establish DC’s Vertigo imprint, and won not only many awards (including being the only comic ever to be awarded the World Fantasy Award in 1991), but a large non-comic reading audience and a huge devoted female fan base.

No word yet on which network(s) will be vying for such an interesting and high profile comic series.

At 88 miles per hour, Back to the Future took millions of spellbound viewers on a high-flying voyage across the space-time continuum in a trio of wildly inventive tales that broke box-office records around the world. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Academy Award-winning cinematic franchise that generated nearly $1 billion worldwide, Telltale Games will release a new game series this winter as part of the milestone soon after the Blu-ray debut and DVD release of the Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy on October 26, featuring all-new restorations of the classic films.

Telltale announced that the highly anticipated Back to the Future games will feature the likenesses of the original stars that made the characters of Marty McFly and Doc Brown legendary: Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Lloyd is voicing Doc Brown for the full game series, which Telltale will deliver in five monthly episodes.

“Creating cinematic adventures true to the source is a top mission for Telltale,” says Telltale CEO Dan Connors. “Securing Marty and Doc for the games, and presenting the experience that fans know and love, has been top on our list since we initiated development.”

Co-creator and writer Bob Gale’s involvement further strengthens the links to the original series. Gale is consulting with Telltale on the characterizations and storyline for the game, ensuring it will be true to the spirit and adventure of the films.

Gale elaborates: “Twenty-five years ago when I wrote Doc Brown’s line about ‘seeing the future,’ little did I realize that I would be traveling with him to work on this game. Collaborating with Telltale is an amazing opportunity to continue the adventures of Doc and Marty.”

Telltale is also pleased to announce that the games will feature the DeLorean Time Machine, and to celebrate the historic vehicle’s return, it will make a guest appearance at the 2010 Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle Washington September 3 through 5. Fans attending this increasingly popular gaming and culture event can re-create the iconic pose from the movie posters and capture their photos with this authentic replica of the famous vehicle in the Convention Center’s South Hall.

Creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich are teaming with Ford Motor Co. & Sprint Nextel for this new series, which sounds like a real-life Ed TV/Truman Show-type web reality show. “Control TV” will follow the life of an average guy in his twenties for six weeks, as his online audience votes on every aspect of his life: from his clothes, to his meals, to where he works and who he dates. The series subject will have a 2011 Ford Fiesta as well as a Sprint phone at his disposal.

“Control TV places the audience in complete control of a show for the first time ever, and we are eager to learn what they will decide for our protagonist.”

Richard Saperstein, another producer on the show, also added, “This show combines the voyeuristic pleasure of reality TV with the experience of control we get from video games. Plus, it’s all going to play out in real time. The concept takes interactivity to a whole new level, and we think it will be highly addictive.”

“Control TV” is set to launch sometime this fall on the DBG Video Network.

Now, with the launch of Metroid: Other M for the Wii system, players are about to discover more about this enigmatic bounty hunter than ever before. Combining crisp action, immersive graphics and multifaceted controls, this latest entry in the legendary Metroid franchise marks a return to classic form that will captivate fans and newcomers alike.

The result of a collaboration between Yoshio Sakamoto – the director of Super Metroid and acclaimed development studio Team NINJA, Metroid: Other M thrusts players deep into an extraordinary science fiction adventure. While much of the game is played from a third-person perspective that is reminiscent of 2D side-scrollers, with the Wii Remote held horizontally, Metroid: Other M is a fully-rendered 3D world where players can also point at the screen to switch to first-person view. Allowing for intense action, precise shooting and detailed exploration of the game’s richly atmospheric environments, this control scheme combines classic elements with original mechanics to give players a new way to experience Samus’ latest adventure.

Throughout Metroid: Other M, players are treated to cinematic interludes that reveal new details about Samus and her largely unknown past. The story picks up just after the events of 1994’s Super Metroid. As Samus, one of the first female protagonists in video game history, embarks on an action-packed mission aboard a derelict spacecraft, players will learn more about this iconic character while uncovering the truth behind a mystery that puts the entire galaxy in peril.

“Immersive action and storytelling go hand-in-hand in Metroid: Other M,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The combination of Mr. Sakamoto’s Metroid expertise and Team NINJA’s high-octane approach has yielded truly amazing results. Whether you’re new to the series or a die-hard fan, this new chapter is an absolute must-play.”

Believing that Clash can still be a big franchise, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are hoping to right the wrongs done in the first film with its sequel.

Warner Brothers hopes to improve on the script from the first by bringing in Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern), Dan Mazeau (the Flash) and David Leslie Johnson (Red Riding Hood) to write the treatment. With all parties happy with that, Mazeau and Johnson are now writing the screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers has tapped Jonathan Liebsman (Darkness Falls andTexas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) to direct Clash 2. Liebsman’s upcoming film, Battle: Los Angeles, impressed the studio execs and showed that he can handle the visual effects and large scale action needed for Clash 2.

Though there is no word on when Clash 2 will go before cameras, Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are expected to reprise their roles for the second film. And unlike the first film, Clash 2 will be shot in 3D. Stay tuned for more details as they trickle in…

The Collectors’ Edition of Disney Epic Mickey will include the full version of the game, a five inch collectible Disney Epic Mickey figurine, Wii console skins and remote faceplate, and a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes video and more. With its innovative style of gameplay using paint and thinner to dynamically change the game world, Disney Epic Mickey is one of the most anticipated titles of 2010.

“We’re thrilled to roll out this Collectors’ Edition featuring so many unique items including the collectibleDisney Epic Mickey figurine and content that will surprise and delight gamers and Disney fans alike,” said Graham Hopper, executive vice president and general manager, Disney Interactive Studios. “The addition of the bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes video and more will enhance and expand the overallDisney Epic Mickey experience.”

Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s long forgotten characters and attractions, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero.

Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions.

Disney Epic Mickey will be available this holiday season exclusively for Wii.
