Hot on the heels of Joss Whedon’s announcement that he will direct the Avengers, he joined the principal cast onstage on Saturday night at Comic-Con. A cast, which now includes Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, as well as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Clark Gregg (S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
In an interview with MTV news, Whedon had this to say:
“The energy is extraordinary.This is an extremely collaborative, supportive intelligent cast; they’re very sweet. They’re not challenging each other, they’re there just enjoying each other and ready to get into it. And that’s an exciting atmosphere.”
Whedon also gushed “I had a dream all my life and it wasn’t this good.”
With man impressive cast and fan anticipation for this film very high, Whedon admitted the prospect is making him a bit nervous.
“I’m nervous I’m going to blow it,” he said. “I need your love.”
Guaranteed.. he’ll get in from the fans in droves. The Avengers is set to hit theaters May 4, 2012.
