Logan Lerman must be a very happy guy. Rumors abound today that the 18 year old is now in the running to be the next Spider-Man. Lerman has told Access Hollywood about discussions involving the role with Columbia Pictures in an interview for his new film, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
“It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series,” he said. “I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”
“It’s just, you know, conversations are starting,” he added. “It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”
Columbia Pictures have stated that while Lerman has been in meetings with Sony, he is not “in talks” for the part. So, only time will tell if he gets the part.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio has yet to close the deal that brings Marc Webb into the directors chair for Spider-Man 4 and that at this stage, they are looking at all actors that might fit the bill of a high school teen.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief opens on February 12th. If the film does well, Fox is very likely to move quickly to produce a sequel, which might complicate matters for the young actor when it comes possible web-slinging.
